clickbate! you where not chased at all. Unfortunatly to young animals where spooked about eachother. You and your horse did great! And the dog owners as well. They kept calling and tryed to take it with them the other way. I feel like they wanted to avoid this situation, but the dog run away before they could put it on the leash. Athough I feel like the owner could have grabed the collar before it approached your horse. Thankfully nothing bad happend. It was a great learning moment for your horse. A barking dog doesn't have to be dangerous, just very annoying ;) The dog-owners do need to practice their recall and keep the dog on the leash when it doesn't listen to theire commands!

If I were them, I would run after that dog not be like “come here” and “ck ck” 🙄

Every video I watch where people run into an off leash dog the owner hardly does anything about it it they just kinda stand there and wait for rote dog like it gonna keep walking and then they try to catch them 4 like to seconds 😂 like… just get the dog away from my horse…😅

In 2005 I had a horse accident involving rounding up some escaped sheep. I was riding a big Quarter horse and she fell on me resulting in a compound fracture of my left femur. When I was in hospital therapy ward a nurse told me the lady that had just gone home was also there for a horse accident. A dog had ran out and the horse spooked and started to buck. The woman came off the saddle but instead of hitting the ground she came back down on the horn of her saddle with her vagina. She had already gone through several micro surgeries trying to repair the damage. After hearing that I thanked God for a fractured femur. The average person has no idea the damage a spooked horse is capable of doing. Oh by the way the first thing I ask after being in a coma for ten days was if Brandy (my horse) was ok. LOL.

So, with people or dogs- you stop, put your horse’s head straight on the creature, pivot & turn to always keep horse facing creature. If they don’t back off & leave, hold on to something, pull straight UP on reins (lifting head), hold on & kick with both legs so horse raises up pawing the air. THIS usually gets rid of any creatures. Now your horse will know his power & not be fearful again

This happened to me with a greyhound. I learnt something...ride the horse towards the owner of dog. Otherwise you will gallop frantically for miles and the dog owner has no chance of regaining control of the crazy dog

Don't tell irresponsible dog owners, "That's alright." It is all wrong. Pet owners should NEVER allow their dog to approach a horse. It is dangerous and irresponsible. The horse rider should tell the pet owner, "If you can't control your dog for its and everyone else's safety, it must always be on a leash."
